The Pony Bar is such a gem of the Upper East Side. It has a super rustic decor with wooden barrels you can sit at or tables on the side. Although you have to order everything at the bar, there are some amazing perks about this place:

    1) The draught beer selection is always changing and takes up two large video boards on the back wall of the bar telling you the type, ABV, and brewery.

    2) Every bartender has been incredibly nice and kind, and the one time they made a mistake, they were apologetic and fixed it immediately.

    3) Great atmosphere to hang out with friends where you can both hear them and also enjoy the music in the background.

Highly recommend and will be coming back here many times in the future!

After a long day at work, my boyfriend and I stopped by for a nice cold beer. We appreciated the air conditioning and enjoyed the wooden backboards to the benches. My boyfriend sat on the stool which was less comfortable seeing as it didn't have a back for him to rest on. We waited for someone to come take our order, but after making eye contact with the guy that gave us the menu, we realized we had to go to the bar to order both drinks and our food. This was a bit inconvenient, seeing as we had to get up to ask for our beers, then sit back to decide what to eat, then walk over to order our food. When we received our burger, my boyfriend asked the waiter (?) to bring us a plate and knife so we could split the burger, but he said we had to go ask the lady behind the bar to give it to us. I found this to be time-consuming and wondered what exactly the waiter could do.

We decided to split a crispy chicken burger with avocado sauce. It came with an order of fries. The burger itself was a bit on the small end, definitely not something to share. I struggled a little holding the burger, seeing as there was so much sauce that the chicken patty was sliding out. The giant chunk of lettuce had to be removed for the chewing process to be easier, but the chicken was delicious! It was as crispy as I had hoped, and the seasoning gave it a nice kick. The fries were crispy and thin, well seasoned with pepper and salt. Seeing as my boyfriend was not full, he decided to walk back to the bar and order (1) shrimp taco and (1) chicken taco. I was not in the mood to try them, but after waving them in my face, I tried them both. The shrimp taco was the best I have ever tried. They tasted fresh and seemed to be only slightly seasoned with salt. The sauce (I'm not sure what kind it was) gave it the right spicy kick. If I had not eaten the burger I would have ordered at least three more shrimp tacos.

Now the beer was perfect. Although neither of us had tasted most of the beers on the menu, we asked the bartender to give us something similar to the lines of an Allagash White. She hit the target on it.

Overall I would say I would return for the shrimp taco and the fries. I did not enjoy the service because we had to get up every time we needed something, which I found strange, especially as most of the staff were talking amongst each other and the place was not busy.

Cool laid back place. The layout leaves room for plenty of people in the event the bar gets fully and roudy, plenty of space to walkthrough crowds.

I was a little confused at first because they have sit down tables and food on the menu, but the waitress does not serve you. You to get up and order your food at the bar and then pick it up too. In my opinion, if you serve food you should serve the food.

Otherwise the moscow mule is yummy!

Easy vibe. Good Bloody plus beer back. Bloody had great flavor. Bartender snappy attitude brought this 4 stars to a 2.5 stars. Meh. We ordered one drink, and left.

We were just looking for an afternoon refreshment and the Pony bar delivered. A couple of our first choices were not available but the staff was helpful and ultimately everyone left refreshed
